hair PREP guide

1

it all starts with clean hair

Lavish your hair with a double cleanse using a professional shampoo, paying attention to the often-neglected back of your head. When conditioning, focus solely on the ends of your hair—moderation is key, as excessive use may affect the longevity of your desired style.

2

Gentle Dry- with a hairdryer

Gently dry your hair without the need for vigorous brushing; leave the hard work to me. For those with exceptionally curly or resilient hair, consider using a paddle brush during the drying process.

3

be mindful

Use caution when applying facial products, particularly near the hairline, as residue may lead to unwanted oiliness. Refrain from indulging in heavy face mask applications the night before, as it can contribute to oily hair. Opt for morning use to maintain a balanced and fresh appearance.

For all hair ups and Hollywood waves please do these steps the night before.

if you are having a blowdry please do these steps just before your appointment.

hair EXTENSIONS

For glamorous, voluminous Hollywood waves or added fullness to your updo, consider investing in clip-in extensions. They effortlessly provide length, thickness, and lasting style to enhance your overall hairstyle.

FAQs

Will you blowdry my hair for my hair up?

For an updo style, it's essential that your hair has a bit of texture, which is why I recommend washing your hair the night before your appointment. Freshly washed hair tends to be too clean and can have trouble holding the style. If you have an oily scalp, you can wash your hair first thing in the morning, but please skip the conditioner to avoid weighing down your hair.

I’m having a blow dry, what happens if my hair DRIES before you arrive?

No need to worry! I always come prepared with a water spray bottle to re-moisten the hair as needed. The key is to ensure your hair has been washed twice and that conditioner is applied only to the ends.

Will you put my veil in?

Absolutely! I'm happy to assist with placing your veil. Alternatively, if you prefer to have a special family member handle this moment, I can provide guidance on how to do it properly. I'll also explain the best way to remove the veil later on.

What should i wear to my appointment?

Wear a button-up top or robe that you can easily change out of without messing up your hair.

When and how can i pay?

To secure your booking, a 50% deposit is required, which can be conveniently paid through NZ bank transfer or via STRIPE. You'll receive a secure payment link along with your quote. The remaining balance must be settled one month before your wedding day.

will steaming my dress be ok?

Unfortunately, steam is hairstylist's worst enemy! Please ensure your dress is steamed the night before and avoid steaming it during or after your hair appointment, as this can negatively affect your hairstyle.

Any final advice?

Be calm

I understand that the morning of your wedding can be nerve-wracking, but try to stay calm. Getting flustered can generate heat, which can impact your hairstyle.

Don’t get hot

Overheating can also affect your hairstyle and makeup. Ensure the room you're getting ready in is well-ventilated and cool to prevent any melting mishaps.

Start your skincare regime early

Glowing skin doesn't happen overnight! Avoid using heavy products the night before, as they can make your hairline greasy and affect your hairstyle. Begin your skincare routine months in advance and seek professional advice on the best products for you and your hair..

Quick shower and a clean face

Before your hair session begins, it's best to have a quick shower in the morning, using a shower cap to protect your hair from getting wet. Additionally, please ensure your face is freshly washed beforehand. If you have a makeup artist, it's advisable to inquire about their preferred skincare preparation routine. This way, both your hair and makeup can be seamlessly started when you're ready.

And finally, if in doubt, ask.

I'm truly here to support you, and I want you to have an unforgettable experience. Open communication is the key to achieving this, as it fosters a deep connection and ensures that every moment of your journey is filled with warmth and understanding.
